A new drop shape analysis instrument (DSA30S) from Krüss was installed last week at 2MILab by Cromocol Scandinavia AB. The instrument is capable of real-time measurement of the contact angle of droplets on solid surfaces, and the surface tension and interfacial tension of liquids on solid surfaces. By measuring the contact angle with several probe liquids, the free energy of the surface can also be determined.
The DSA30S is equipped with a high speed and high resolution camera allowing study of dynamic wetting processes and absorption, and an automated dispenser for simple routine handling. More information can be found here
