KTH Research Infrastructures has allocated 3.5Mkr to allow 2MILab to acquire an X-Ray Photoelectron Spectrometer (XPS) for sustainability research. The funding matches that awarded by Olle Engkvist Foundation. XPS is used to distinguish elemental composition and bond-states at the surface of materials. The current total of 7Mkr enables purchase of a basic spectrometer, while the modular nature of commercial XPS systems will allow user groups to equip the system with specialized components for application-focused studies.
